Welcome to the Lions Women Skill Training Center in Nepal

Lions is a voluntary service organization with 1.4 million members worldwide.

Nepal is one of the world's poorest countries, girls and women traditionally have a very low value in Nepali society. Girls are married off very young or lured away from their homes by trafficking gangs in the belief that they will get a job and a better life elsewhere.

Trafficking in women is a major problem in Nepal, with thousands of girls disappearing from their homes every year.
250,000 Nepalese girls are estimated to work as sex slaves in Indian brothels.

Lions have decided to oppose this.

Lions in southwest Sweden built and equipped a school in southern Nepal in 2006-2007. For over 13 years, 50 girls have been trained as seamstresses each year through Lions. Sponsors in Sweden pay all education costs.

The majority of former students either have jobs or their own sewing workshop.
